Marcus practices in the area of civil and commercial litigation. He has appeared on behalf of individual and corporate clients before the Superior Court of Justice and the Divisional Court on a wide range of litigation matters. Marcus also has considerable experience negotiating and drafting settlement agreements.

After completing his law degree at McGill Faculty of Law, Marcus articled with a boutique litigation firm in Toronto. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2009 and joined Piazza Tanner in 2011.

Marcus is fluently bilingual is pleased to serve our clients in both official languages.

John Piazza

John Piazza was called to the Bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1973 and for the last 25 years of his practice has specialized in areas of real estate, commercial and corporate law.

He is very familiar with all areas of business law and has particular expertise in matters of business negotiation, negotiation and drafting of contracts and leases and matters pertaining to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

In addition, John has expertise with regard to all aspects of corporate law, including the reorganization and restructuring of Federal and Ontario corporations. He has established a high level of rapport at the political level and the public service level, which assists in all areas of client service.

John also represents a number of clients in the land development area and has provided ongoing advice and assistance in this regard for a number of years. He also represents clients in real estate purchases, sales and mortgages.

John has also been involved in fundraising for many organizations for over 30 years. Presently, he is chair of the corporate Fundraising Committee of Villa Marconi, an extended care facility.

John is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association and the County of Carleton Law Association.

Harland Tanner

Harland has concentrated his practice in the area of Real Estate, representing individuals and businesses through the process of purchases, sales and mortgages and acting extensively for builders in all matters of land development and construction.

Harland also practices extensively in the areas of Wills, Estates and Trusts and Business Law, advising both individuals and businesses in estate and succession planning and business organizations.

Harland was born and raised in Ottawa and is a graduate of Carleton University and the University of Ottawa Law School. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2008 and has been in private practice since. Harland entered into partnership with John Piazza in 2010.

Harland is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association and the County of Carleton Law Association.
