Rick Brooks, B.A.LL.B.

Rick Brooks was called to the Bar in 1979 and is the partner responsible for all civil litigation, although the emphasis of his practice is on commercial/corporate litigation.  This includes bankruptcy and insolvency matters, debtor/creditor disputes, banking litigation and general commercial matters. He has extensive experience representing large institutional clients.  A significant portion of the litigation in the firm flows from the other areas of the practice and as a result, there is an emphasis on the interpretation and enforcement of corporate and commercial agreements, as well as matters relating to real property and personal property disputes.  In addition, Mr. Brooks handles general civil litigation including personal injury  and insurance issues.  Mr. Brooks has extensive trial and appellate experience as counsel before all levels of the Ontario Courts.  He has also appeared as counsel before various administrative tribunals.  Mr. Brooks has been a lecturer for the Continuing Legal Education section of the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Mr. Brooks was the co-chair for the 2007 World Ringette Championship and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ottawa International Jazz Festival.

Mr. Brooks also offers his services as a mediator in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario.
